The Fight Begins!

Hi!  This is my new blog! And I’m very new at blogging!!  But I wanted to share with my family and my friends my journey with breast cancer, Round Two!  Four and and half years ago I was diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma, estrogen and progestin positive, grade 1 breast cancer. My loving husband and I both decided to have a bi-lateral mastectomy. Because my tumor was so small I didn’t need chemo or radiation. I did have reconstructive surgery and I’m very happy with my new “boobs”!  I also felt very certain that this was going to be a “One and Done” thing and I never thought I would have a recurrence.

Surprise #1 -  I found a lump under my right arm while shaving one morning 😕I immediately made a Dr appointment! (Never Wait Ladies!)

Surprise #2 -  After a biopsy two days later the radiologist called and said my lump is positively cancer!! 😳

Surprise #3 -  My wonderful oncologist, Dr Zinke explained that my cancer is still breast cancer but it changed to triple negative and has 92% proliferation rate!! Very aggressive and the fact that it is in my lymph node is not good either!! 😱

Surprise #4 - This was the good part! After my Pet/Ct scan came back they called to tell me they couldn’t find any other spots in my body! Yay! It hasn’t metastasized yet!! That’s good but it means hard core chemo treatments, surgery, then radiation!! But Dr Zinke is hopeful that he can cure me of this crazy cancer! For now! Because I will never believe it won’t come back again!!

First thing I’ve learned, cancer doesn’t follow any rules! Dr Zinke said I was an Anomaly!! Go figure!!  So after a biopsy, Pet scan, Port placement surgery, diagnosis, chemo teach class, and now treatment!

Today April 16th (sweet Manu’s Birthday!) I started my first chemo therapy treatment!  I’m having A/C for 4 treatments then Taxol for 4 treatments taking 16 weeks to complete.  Ive been home 2 hours and feel fine so far!!

I have the best support system ever!! My family is so amazing! I love you all so much!! My friends are amazing! I love you all so much too!! Cheri Kay went with me to my chemo class and Erin went with me today for my first time and my sister Julie showed up!  I think everyone was intimidated by my ICU nurse I brought along!! 💕  I feel very loved and cared for.  I’m especially grateful for Clifford my sweet husband who I couldn’t do any of this without him!! He helped me through round one, now we are working together to get through round Two!!
